*PERSISTENT ILLUSION (2022) TET, sdlg # NVVx RR; Bloom 6-3/4”; Scape 32”; Branches 4, sometimes 5; Buds avg. 16; EM; Sev; Reblooms; Fragrant (NATURE’S VICE VERSA X RIPPLES AND REFLECTIONS)

This has been one of my favorite seedlings since its initial crop year, growing very well here in zone 5, and producing tons of seed for me.

The blooms are pale peach, turning almost white after the sun hits them, and are centered by a light purple eyezone which is also carried onto the sepals. The pattern in the eyezone is of concentric rings of color with inclusions of white, which make additional rings. This pattern is very consistent; I have seen maybe 3 or 4 days when the pattern was not as apparent, which happened during very cold weather. Blooms open well, showing off the pattern to full advantage on the nicely branched scapes. The flowers are centered with an intense green throat with purple veining extending out onto the petals. Makes a striking clump with the blooms held well on the scapes to allow for great opening and display.

This is an important breeding plant, throwing both eyezone patterns and appliqués into its seedlings. Extremely fertile both ways, and reblooms quite well. I continue to use this plant as a hybridizing tool, and probably will for some time.
