This daylily was hybridized and selected in our Ohio garden. When this daylily first bloomed 3 years ago, you can only imagine how “wowed” I was. The striping was the best that I had ever seen at that moment in time. And to this day it is among the top in daylilies with consistent stripes available on the market.
While this daylily is short and the plant habit is comparable to for those who growUNDEFINABLE in the North , the stripes make it a go to daylily to use as a hybridizers tool for striping daylilies. For Northern hybridizers, I’d only purchase this daylily if you are interested in working with stripes and want cutting edge striped faces to put into your program. Or if you are a seed seller, it’s a can’t miss daylily for striped crosses. By crossing onto tall cold hardydaylilies we've achievedvery desirable results; cold hardiness, tall scapeheight and higher budcountin our program. (note the pod parent has dormancy in it.)
Northern Growers, if youdesire this daylily as a garden plant, I think you will be sorely disappointed unless you are interested in the face only. We grow thousand of daylilies with beautifulscapes. This daylily is not one of those. Also this daylily does not like to be crowded when growing and may require winter mulch the first year of growing.
That said, this daylily certainly performs better in the South. And garden growers in zone 7 and above, might entirely satisfied with plant habit. As usual with evergreens, my friend Larry Grace growsthis daylily to better plant specs than I do. He gets an added branch or two with more buds and a couple of inches in extra height. I’d expect greenhouse growers to see similar results.
Since this daylily is rare and limited there are no refunds however I will try to replace if you have an issue. If you have any questions, contact me. Before payment, contact me.
