PINK D�J� VU

Tetra NEAL BERREY is arguably the most important of all the induced pinks I've used in my hybridizing program. It bequeaths an inordinate amount of quality to its seedlings, producing large, beautifully ruffled flowers in all shades of pink from icy near-whites to deepest rose. Unfortunately the pollen on Tet. NEAL BERREY is so hard to use, it's virtually impossible to obtain large numbers of seed and fully explore its potential. The quality of the few seedlings I did manage to obtain were of such excellent overall quality that I made a concerted effort a few years back. After pollinating thousands of blooms on 6 huge established clumps of JANET BENZ with the pollen of Tet. NEAL BERREY, I managed to wind up with over 100 seeds from this cross. Only about 60 germinated, and PINK D�J� VU was hands down the finest in the entire crop. PINK D�J� VU was worth the time and effort as it comes closest of all my pinks to my vision of a full tet version of NEAL BERREY. This gorgeous 6" rose pink surpasses both its parents for sheer ruffling and imparts this trait to its own offspring as well. Plants are medium large and deep blue green, with straight strong 3-way branched scapes and 20 buds. PINK D�J� VU is as impressive today as when it first bloomed and on viewing this heavily ruffled beauty in the summer of '08, it occurred to me that Tet. NEAL BERREY had been brushed aside too quickly in my rush to convert and use all the pinks of Tom Wilson. I just might go back and use Tet. NEAL BERREY one more time in an effort to add more ruffling and dormancy to my advanced generation pinks from LINDA AGIN and THELMA ELAINE. But for now. I am releasing PINK D�J� VU, the most advanced and heavily ruffled of all the wonderful NEAL BERREY pinks. Pod and pollen fertile and wonderfully fragrant.
