RED HAT DIVA (NORRIS 2006)
HERE IS WHAT RICHARD NORRIS HAS TO SAY ABOUT RED HAT DIVA:
(seedling T98-37) {IMPERIAL IMPRESSION X (seedling T94-9, SCARLET ORBIT X ED MURRAY)} 6" ML 28" SEV TET
RED HAT DIVA has an astounding presence in the garden. She comes on with brilliant red blossoms just as the season is showing signs of winding down. The bloom continues well past the end of the season for most of the rest of the garden. One could not ask for better foliage. It stays a bright green well past the first frosts, looking like most plants do before bloom. (As I write this on the 16thof November the clumps of RHD look as good as any clumps here do at any point in the year.) When we had rust here RED HAT DIVA showed almost complete rust resistance. It took some looking to find a single rust pustule on this stalwart. This plant is a must for any hybridizer who is looking to put rust resistance into their plants. The large blossoms on heavily budded and branched scapes make this plant a highlight of the end of the season. A bright green throat adds much to the lovely bloom but the outstanding feature of the blossom is the very clear, bright white edge. This plant has the vigor which we would all like to see in daylilies.
RED HAT DIVA IS VERY FERTILE BOTH WAYS, AND A WONDERFUL PARENT FOR DEEP, LUSCIOUS, SUNFAST, REDS AND PURPLES. THIS ONE IS A STALWART IN MY GARDEN.

ABOUT BITTERSWEET FARM: Our ten acres of woods, ravines, and garden beds is located outside of Granville, Ohio. In this part of Ohio (zone 5), we grow in heavy clay soil that we amend with lots of manure, peat, compost, etc. Fortunately, rust does not overwinter here, and I’ve never seen it in the garden. While I start the seeds from my own crosses each year in our small greenhouse, everything else is grown outside -- all of our named cultivars, as well as our seedlings, are field grown, hardy, and beautiful.
I like to send extra fans as bonuses instead of other plants. Please let me know if you ever have a concern about plants you receive from me. I stand behind everything I sell, and hope that you get as much pleasure from these daylilies as I do.
All photos belong to Bittersweet Farm and were taken in our garden.
