We mix our own soil, including alfalfa, bone meal, blood meal andWORM CASTINGS. We feed primarily with Miracle Grow with minors andSEAWEED CONCENTRATE. We do not force our plants. We use good old California sunshine, water and nutrients. We rely heavily onorganic productsfor insect and disease control---we haveLADYBUGS, GREEN LACEWINGS AND PRAYING MANTISon patrol for us.

In 2002 Matthew Kaskel bloomed 2 very special gold-edged lavender sdlgs. #127 has become known as "Kaskel's Best Edge." But .#0208 was Matthew's pick and he referred to it as his "gem," due to its near perfect scape and branching and the fact that the 7" blooms with 1/2" gold edge always opened early and flat andŠ.#0208 is nearly rust-proof! Like parent #0208, AMETHYST STARDUST is truly a gem in all aspects of flower and plant.Foliage is evergreen, but tough as nails, with arching blue-green leaves and arrow-straight scapes that bear 3-4 lateral branches at 45° angles up and down the scapes. This perfectly spaced branching allows flowers to open at graduated heights and when 3 or 4 of these ornate blooms are open at once, this daylily can win "best-in-show" anywhere.
