We mix our own soil, including alfalfa, bone meal, blood meal andWORM CASTINGS. We feed primarily with Miracle Grow with minors andSEAWEED CONCENTRATE. We do not force our plants to grow. We use good old California sunshine, water, nutrients andTIME(maturity). We rely heavily onorganic productsfor insect and disease control---we also haveLADYBUGS, GREEN LACEWINGS AND PRAYING MANTISon patrol for us. BLADERUNNER (Benz) tet 34" M. Dor. (White Fang X Braided lightning) This 5 1/2" bright ruby red flower with its high contrast white sharks teeth raises the bar in this class. With huge hard dormant plants, arching blue-green foliage and strong ramrod straight scapes blessed with beautiful branching and a bud-count of 25 or more, BLADERUNNER combines more superlatives in one daylily than any other sharks tooth variety I grow. The quest for clear deep colors with true sharks-teeth has been a long and arduous one. WHITE FANG was the only one of 137 siblings that had both good red color AND white sharks teeth. In the ensuing years I made hundreds of crosses and planted thousands of seed from WHITE FANG crossed with every gold edged parent I grew and although many were beautiful and most had braided or lacy edges, very few had both good clear red or purple color with pronounced white teeth. BLADERUNNER is the very finest of these and the culmination of a hard won goal spanning nearly a decade. Easy parent both ways producing incredible offspring and indispensable to those breeding for teeth combined with deep color and a great overall dormant plant.
