Heavenly Ravenclaw
(Gossard, James) 2018 introduction (Mort Morss x Heman) Seedling number MortHeman1 Tetraploid 38"LateseasonDormantemo fr 8" 4-5 way branching 18-24 buds. Fertile both ways.Rebloomer. Very good rust resistance.USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 4-10. When I make a cross, I have a specific goal in mind. Maybe it is to increase height, maybe to create a more saturated bloom. Maybe to improve the northern hardiness of a strong southern daylily. With Heavenly Ravenclaw, the cross of Salter's Gorgeous toothy purple Mort Morss and my own Behemoth Heman, I'm introducing a stunning cultivar that surpasses both parents. A deep purple color like Mort Morss, but much more saturated and with gleaming gold and white edge of ornate undulating teeth, sometimes long and thick enough to be called claws instead. Heavenly Ravenclaw gets its size- an incredible 8 inch bloom diameter on a 38 inch tree-like scape- from Heman. Proudly northern selected and dormant, Heavenly Ravenclaw laughs at harsh winters, blooming and thriving beautifully. A DYNAMITE garden, show, and hybridizing plant.......$150 SF, $275 DF. |
