Bob Faulkner seedling 20. 7 fans. You are bidding on all of this seedling. Another mid-season bloomer that I didn't record stats on.
In the spring of 2011 I was lucky enough to be the delighted recipient of a lot of Bob Faulkner’s 2008 non-select seedlings. I traveled to Ohio during what had to be the rainiest May in history with one of my sisters; and, along with another lady I’d met on the auction, dug daylilies for hours. Bob was right there with us, hosing the dirt off daylilies roots and piling them in a cart for us. His wonderful dog Buzz, who is no longer with us, supervised the whole procedure and got as covered with mud as the rest of us. I had a great time even though I’ve never been more tired or dirty in my life, with the possible exception of the time I went on the Wild Cave Tour at Mammoth Caves back during my misspent youth!
There were hundreds of daylilies and of course not all of them fit into my hybridizing program so I’ve been gradually thinning the herd and selling the ones I don’t use. All of the ones I brought home and replanted were diploids—Bob has some beautiful tets but I didn’t want to worry about trying to keep them straight. The numbers that I’ve assigned to them are my own and have nothing to do with any Natural Selections seedling numbers. I’ve re-used some of the numbers as I've sold plants and new one bloomed so if you see Bob 155 and go, hey, I bought that plant, just realize that this is NOT the same seedling you purchased. You got the entire seedling, none of them are being divided up.
General info: Our gardens are in Michigan, and our fans are not going to be as large as those of southern or greenhouse growers, but they are healthy and have good root systems. Bonus: Rust is not a problem in our zone 5 gardens! And anything we list has probably survived at least one brutal Michigan winter, so if you live in the north, hardiness should not be a concern. We don’t use BAP, nor do we own a greenhouse. Pendergriff South is a state licensed and inspected nursery.
Shipping is $12 for the first plant and $1 for each additional FAN. In other words, an extra one fan plant is $1, 2 fans, $2, 3 fans $3, and so on. We will consider whichever purchase has the most fans to be your first plant. We ship by priority mail, and only to the continental United States. Sorry, but we do not ship plants internationally.
PayPal is preferred, but we also accept personal checks and money orders. Payment is due within 10 days of auction close. If you wish us to hold items to combine shipping, please let us know when submitting payment--and please include your Lily Auction ID when paying, so we can post the payment to the proper person.
If payment is by check, shipment will be after check clears. We will start shipping plants after Labor Day, depending on weather and how the pod harvest is coming along. If you cannot accept fall shipment please do not bid. Plants purchased in the fall cannot be held over for combined shipping with spring auctions as they ship from 2 different locations. We also do not ship plants and seeds together.
