CERISE MASTERPIECE
(Stamile, P) TET 2334-A [(Chartered Course x Musical Medley) X Seize The Night] 38” EMRe. Ev. 7” x 3¾” x 2½”. 7-way branching. 45 buds. Odd things happen in hybridizing sometimes. From a pink x purple cross comes a huge flat cerise red with a white edge and rose watermark. I was surprised and delighted when I first saw CERISE MASTERPIECE bloom. I knew it had to be an introduction. Even as a nine-month seedling it was almost 40” tall with candelabra branching. It was easily the tallest seedling in the cross. Folks who have been hybridizing awhile know it is rare to find a really big flower on a tall well-branched scape. It is as if the plant has only so much chlorophyll and can produce only enough energy for a few big flowers and these must be low and close to the ground so as not to tap water and nutrient uptake to the extreme. Even when you have a single cultivar with a tall and short scape from the same fan the short scape will have the large flower. I think this partly explains why dwarf miniatures are difficult to achieve in the tiny flowers and why CERISE MASTERPIECE is such a powerful parent for very large reds, purples and pinks with white edges and gold edges. Tremendous daylily with first flowers approaching 8” with 4½” petals. CERISE MASTERPIECE is sure to please. Easily fertile both ways.

RED EDITION
(Pierce, G.) 188-B (Talladega x Crowing Fire) EV EM 40” 6.25” flower, 6 way branching, 35 buds. This bright red blossom with white ruffled edge and green throat has its own style and is prettier in person than the photo. Different is a good way to describe RED EDITION as red daylilies need distinction to become an introduction. A true red, which is bright and tends to pop in the garden. The white edge is quite ruffled and even though the blooms carry angle wings there is no hanging-up. You’ll love the TALL scapes too. RED EDITION is a wonderful daylily for the breeder looking to add size and scape performance. For the collector RED EDITION really stands out with the white ruffles against the bright red color. Fertile both ways.

Seeds were air dried for 48 hours and have been refrigerated for at least 3 weeks
