These are my final seed offerings for the season. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to look!
Pod parent: GREY WITCH (Reed 1999) EM 30" DOR 4.22:1 is the ratio of this 6" Spider. Registered as having 2 branches and 15 buds, it does lots more, is vigorous, and gets taller as well. Got to 42" here in 2006 with an average of 29 buds per scape and has maintained those habits since, even with routine over-podding. Gray lavender with a purple eye above a green throat. Won a well deserved Award of Merit in 2009. (TRAHLYTA X unknown). Pod parent of MONACAN TRAIL, OCEAN SPIRIT, ORION'S BAND and ZERO TO SIXTY, pollen of BUZZER BEATER and GREY WOLF, grandmother of LIGHT AS AIR.
Pollen parent: DAREDEVIL IMP (Michaels 2012 intro registered in 2011) 28" M DOR EMO From a cross of 2 tall seedlings with 11½" wingspans comes this short 5½" spider with a mere 6" wingspan. This is the only true spider that I have ever heard garden visitors describe as "cute." I initially selected this from the seedling bed because it was unique among its much bigger and taller siblings. Makes very small fans and seeds, and is fertile both ways. After seeing taller but unexpectedly diminutive flowered seedlings from DAREDEVIL IMP, I realized that it has remarkable breeding potential for smaller true spiders. Spider ratio is 4.9:1. Intense red violet with cream midribs above a yellow to green throat, it sports 1-2 lateral branches and 20-25 buds. [(DIVERTISSMENT x TENNESSEE FLYCATCHER) X (RED RIBBONS x AABACHEE)].
Goals: Hoping for taller, smaller spiders in a variety of purple shades. With luck, some will be grayish.
