One Foundation (Forbidden Fantasy x Upon This Rock) x Bill Vojir 35”, 6”, Dormant, M, 22 buds with 2 way branching, fertile both ways.

The 2007 seedling crop had many excellent plants. We chose some of the best to go in the basement for hybridizing. One Foundation was selected for further observation but did not make the finalists for the basement. In 2008, One Foundation was outstanding in the garden and we brought it in the basement in its second year. After seeing One Foundation seedlings, we wish we would have hybridized with it a year earlier. This is the parent of the fabulous Harold Steen and the excellent Built on the Rock.As a garden plant, One Foundation is consistently beautiful with the clear red flowers opening a little later in the morning but looking good all day. This is an excellent plant combining many features we seek in our program (hardiness, beauty, budcount, height, fertility, breeder).

Finally I am beginning to get the green back in the throats of red daylilies. Once Big Red Wagon was taken to the Floyd Cove Red lines, yes they got bigger and with gold edges, but they ALL had that darn orange throat. Of all the daylily colors Reds especially need that green throat. So the prize goes to RAMBLING RED. True red color with big ruffled overlapped petals, a lovely watermelon red watermark, lots of sparkling gold in the petal edges and a big green throat. And… RAMBLING RED is easily pod FERTILE both ways and a great parent! You’re Welcome. Enjoy.

THIS IS A POSITIVE THAT EVEN MANY OF OUR FRIENDS ON THE GULF COAST VALUE. UNLESS OUR SEEDS HAVE TWO 2015 INTRODUCTIONS AS PARENTS, YOU KNOW THAT AT LEAST ONE PARENT CAN HANDLE COLD WEATHER.
