War Horse
(Gossard, James) 2015 introduction
(((Kaskel sdl x tetra Dragons eye) x (First Degree)) x ((Kaskel sdl x Mister Lucky) x (Scarlett))) x (Heavenly United We Stand)
Tetraploid, Scape Height 48", Mid-Late season, Dormant, early morning opener, Fragrant, Bloom size 8", 5-6 way branching, 20-40 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer. Very good rust resistance. Northern Hardy.
Flowers of War horse are red with a darker red eye zone and a green throat. Two years ago I left my clump of War Horse on top of the ground all winter. Much to my surprise it lived and bloomed sitting on top of the ground cover. The Kaskel seedling was one I called, SUPER BRANCH, but was evergreen. Crossing Heavenly United We Stand with this seedling produced War Horse, a dormant. The next generation kids have been wonderful. Because of the genetics you can take it round or narrow. Many of the kids are branched like trees. A super hybridizing and garden plant.

Red Nova
(Gossard, James) 2013 introduction
(tetra I See Stars) x (Heavenly United We Stand)
Tetraploid, Scape Height 42", Midseason, Dormant, Early morning opener, Fragrant, Bloom size 8.5", 3-5 way branching, 18-30 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer.
Flowers of Red Nova are fire engine red with a darker red eye zone. The throat is very green. A great daylily coming from my best tetraploid daylily 'Heavenly United We Stand' and my super good diploid 'I See Stars'. Lots of line breeding for red, no wonder the color is so good. Very showy in the garden. A super hybridizing and garden plant
