Stop The Car
(Gossard, James) 2015 introduction
(Orange Splash x Waiting in the Wings) x (Tetra Walter's Tango)
Tetraploid, Scape height 47", Mid-Late season, Dormant, Early morning opener, Fragrant, Bloom size 7", 5 way branching, 45-50 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer. UFO form is Crispate. Excellent rust resistance. Northern Hardy.
Flowers of Stop the car are intense orange with a red-orange eye zone and yellow orange throat. I was able to use purple crossed into my orange line to increase the orange color. Have you ever been traveling down the road and you look out and see a striking flower blooming. Well when you go by this one. You Will say, "STOP THE CAR!" I just can't say enough about this daylily. I believe this to be my second best daylily I have ever done, second only to Heavenly United We Stand. Why? Its all about color. Stop the car is 20% better in color and any of my other oranges. Best color than any orange daylily introduced to-date. The foliage is perfect. Super rust resistant and free of spring sickness. Has super branching and bud count. The rebloom is instant and comes up just a few inches below first blooms. Sometimes a 3rd level half way up appears. Just take a look at my clump shot. It gets even better, it also bud-builds, making for a very long season. I just love this daylily. A super hybridizing and garden plant.
