Auction is for 5 seeds from the cross of GREAT CREATOR X BLACK .
POD PARENT:
GREAT CREATOR
Ripley’s seedling10NR593B (Randy Stephens x Red Friday)Tet
Height 36”, bloom 5.5 +, 4-5 way branching, easy pod setter, pollen excellent. It has been early in my garden, Dormant, and Reblooms. Great red that does not spot with teeth on petals & sepals a plenty.
I will introduce this seedling in 2017. First bloomed in 2012, I feel it gets better each year. In 2013 I moved and divided the plant into two clumps, it still set pods and multiplied.
Last fall I divided one of the clumps. Winner will receive 1 blooming size fan to be shipped in spring 2016. This plant is field grown and hardy in my garden zone 4/5. It has gone through 2 of the hardiest winters we have had since I started hybridizing. It increases well naturally. It is outstanding in my field garden. 10MR593 always opens and doesn’t get hung up. This is one of my best seedlings to date. Outstanding in every way.
POLLEN PARENT:
Black Wolf
(Gossard, James) 2017 introduction
(Hooked on You) x (Men in Black)
Seedling number 804-11
Tetraploid 28" Midseason Dormant emo fr 5 3/4" 3-4 way branching 18-24 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer. Very good rust resistance. USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 4-9.
Flowers of Black Wolf are burgundy black with a multi-colored triple edge and dual colored white and gold teeth, capped off with a green throat. This is my best toothy introduction of 2017, and one that makes people stop and stare in the garden. It brings a dark color rarely seen in a toothy flower with a hard dormant line that also grows well in the south. If you pick just one flower this year- it should be this one. Grows well across zones- tested in Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, Alabama and Florida. Easily pod and pollen-fertile, it has been a great parent, passing on its stunning looks and saturated color on to its kids. Crossing this with Spacecoast Sawtooth and Spacecoast Midnight bite will get you some extra special kids!....$200 SF.
