Auction is for 5 seeds from the cross of BLAZING CANNONS X PURPLE GOLIATH.
POD PARENT:
BLAZING CANNONS
Bill Waldrop 2013
(Spacecoast Blood Diamond x Home of the Free)
Sev. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. 31" tall, 5-way branching, 25 buds, 7" flower.
BLAZING CANNONS is a cross between two champions. A champion "pod parent" from the Kinnebrew garden, and another champion "pollen parent" from the garden of Larry Grace. These two parents produced a brilliant red flower that is 7" in diameter. BLAZING CANNONS has grown very well here in North Georgia, and I'm pleased to also report that it often produces proliferations. BLAZING CANNONS received its name after I watched many episodes on the history channel about the Civil War. Pod and pollen fertile.
POLLEN PARENT:
Purple Goliath
(Grace, Larry/Gossard, James) 2017 introduction
(The Cost of Freedom) x (tetra Sharon`s Delight)
Seedling number 335-13
Tetraploid 34" Midseason Semi-Evergreen emo fr 9" 3 way branching 18-22 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer.
Flowers of the daylily, " Purple Goliath " are purple with a lighter eye zone, white edge, and green throat. Flowers tend to bloom at 8 inches but continue to grow over the day, becoming 9 to 10 inches in diameter. You're getting genetics found nowhere else. Just one generation from having monster 10 to 12 inch ruffled daylilies which are totally sunfast, opening in even the coldest nights. If you're breeding goliath-sized daylilies, this is a must-have. Think of the possiblies of crossing Purple Goliath with Guy Pierce's Master and Bold Ruler. It doesn’t stop there either: Purple Goliath also carries the color changer genes from Substantial Evidence. It also has Lights of Detroit in its genetics, which creates flowers of heavy substance and flat-faced hibiscus form. Want teeth too? The genetics goes back to Fortune's Dearest, coming from grand parents of Marietta Heartbeat, which goes back to Emmerich's Heartbeat of Heaven. And a huge amount of dormant genes. Rot-proof and excellent resistant to rust. Certainly, to be one of the most sought after flowers of 2017.........$300
