Except for PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, STARLIGHT SPLASH and a beautiful seedling shared by Steve Williams, I no longer grow cultivars that did not originate in my garden. This was an effort to downsize (worked) and to force me to focus on producing patterned true spiders (didn’t work). Focus? Nope, I was still trying to pollinate everything and so made a great many more crosses than I could handle. Thus, most of these seed offerings involve at least one seedling. Forgive me.
Pod parent: DOT MATRIX* (Michaels 2016 intro registered in 2015) Mre 38” DOR TET An early morning opener, the pink (ranging from creamy bluish pink to a peachy pink) 7˝” blooms are heavily stippled with deep rose over a yellow to green throat and they stay open late. I have to admit that I’ve taken so many photos of this garden visitor favorite, I could fill a website. A Crispate Unusual Form with petals that are almost always pinched and sepals that are almost always quilled. There are days when it chooses to act out, especially on rebloom if the weather is chilly, but even then there’s considerable movement. Readily passes stipples and several such kids have already been selected. The deep green leaves make average sized fans. Fertile both ways. Seedling MMI9N-1 (MARTIAN MASERATI X NINE INCH NAILS).
Pollen parent: LUNARIAN LAMBORGHINI* (Michaels 2017) Yes, I grew over 115 of this TET cross, 99.999% of which were in shades of purple. This 7˝” very pale pink with deeper halo over a chartreuse throat fades to near white shortly after opening. Usually presenting with quilled sepals, blooms open early and stay open late, appearing on 40” scapes with a terminal Y and 2-4 laterals and 25-35 buds. Yep, it looks like something Bob Schwarz would have made but now that he’s out of the game, I think continuing his look is a worthy pursuit. SEV. Fertile both ways, it makes average sized fans. Seedling GLXJKSRSUBO-115 {[GALAXY RANGER x (JOHN KARL SEAGER x RED SUSPENDERS)] X BLUSHING OCTOPUS}.
Goals: Larger speckled Unusual Forms.
