Except for PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, STARLIGHT SPLASH and a beautiful seedling shared by Steve Williams, I no longer grow cultivars that did not originate in my garden. This was an effort to downsize (worked) and to force me to focus on producing patterned true spiders (didn’t work). Focus? Nope, I was still trying to pollinate everything and so made a great many more crosses than I could handle. Thus, most of these seed offerings involve at least one seedling. Forgive me.
Pod parent: CLAWED RAINS* (Michaels 2017) M 34” DOR TET 6˝” deep cream heavily stippled with plum and with a deeper eye over a yellow to green throat. Skinny deep cream teeth dot all of the tepals even in cool weather, becoming more frequent the warmer it gets. More stippled than clawed, the areas of background showing through suggested missing color to me, which then made me think of the Invisible Man … but only after my first 2 name choices were rejected (there will not be a daylily named after the most recent addition to our cat family, Clawedya). Scapes have a terminal W with 1-3 laterals and 20-24 well spaced buds. Fertile both ways, it makes average sized fans. (GLOUCESTER CALLING X EIGHT MILES HIGH).
Pollen parent: RAPKSSTC8MHDE-16* (unregistered) 32” Mre DOR TET 7˝-8” This relatively narrow deep purple with pale cream teeth on all sepals over a yellow to green throat was selected because it was far less prone to thrips damage than most of the toothy cultivars I’ve grown. Straight scapes with a terminal W and one lateral hold 18-20 buds. {[RAPTOR RAP x (KRISTAL SUNSET x STARTLING CREATION)] X (EIGHT MILES HIGH x DANGEROUS EXPECTATIONS)}.
Goals: Toothy, hopefully some stippled.
