Except for PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, STARLIGHT SPLASH and a beautiful seedling shared by Steve Williams, I no longer grow cultivars that did not originate in my garden. This was an effort to downsize (worked) and to force me to focus on producing patterned true spiders (didn’t work). Focus? Nope, I was still trying to pollinate everything and so made a great many more crosses than I could handle. Thus, most of these seed offerings involve at least one seedling. Forgive me.
Pod parent: DITMTR-5 (unregistered) 34” M-ML DOR 5˝-6” this deep burgundy Crispate Unusual Form not only displays lots of wild movement, it displayed lots of buds in its first year in the selected bed with 4 strong scapes each holding 2-3 laterals under the terminal Y and over 30 buds. Positively being observed for future introduction. (DAREDEVIL IMP X THE MOUSE THAT ROARED).
Pollen parent: RENFIELD (Michaels 2016 intro registered in 2015) M 40” DOR 8” deep burgundy with a yellow to green throat. Petals pinch while sepals often curl and recurve, making it a Crispate Spider that has a 5.75:1 ratio as standing and a 4.38-4.58:1 ratio when the longest petal is flattened. One to 5 (!) laterals under a terminal W display 20-44 buds. Few people can pronounce the name of Dracula’s spider-eating minion without attempting a Bela Lugosi accent. Very fertile both ways, it makes narrow fans of medium green leaves. Seedling BLPADD-7 (BLACK PASSION X ADDERBOLT).
Goals: Dark wigglies on tall scapes with great bud counts.
