Except for PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, STARLIGHT SPLASH and a beautiful seedling shared by Steve Williams, I no longer grow cultivars that did not originate in my garden. This was an effort to downsize (worked) and to force me to focus on producing patterned true spiders (didn’t work). Focus? Nope, I was still trying to pollinate everything and so made a great many more crosses than I could handle. Thus, most of these seed offerings involve at least one seedling. Forgive me.
Pod parent: INSTANT GRAFFITI (Michaels 2015 intro registered in 2014) Mre 35" DOR 7” This rose purple with darker eye outlined in pale pink has lighter tepal edges and was moved to the selected bed in August, 2011 after 2 years of blooming in the seedling bed. Of primary importance to me is that it maintained its color pattern during the 2 hottest summers we've experienced, unlike most patterned cultivars I grow, though I'd still classify it as a cold dominant pattern. Nearly every bloom had comparable patterning in our cooler 2013. With stout scapes holding 2 laterals and up to 30 buds, it has rebloomed every year since its first, producing 3 sets of scapes in 2013. Passing both etched eyes and dollop-of-color patterns, it is fertile both ways. Rather slow to increase, it makes rather chunky fans. Seedling CWLWHTOG-2 [(CHIN WHISKERS x LITTLE WITCHING HOUR) X TOMORROW'S SONG].
Pollen parent: PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION (Norris 2008) M 26” DOR flat opening 5” truly incredible color changing blooms that start out as a red purple and turquoise blend and, within hours, turn to mostly cream with a red purple edge often highlighted with splashes of turquoise. Appears to require sunlight to initiate the color change. Two branches, 15 buds (BIG APPLE X SUBSTANTIAL EVIDENCE).
Goals: Hoping for color changers.
