Except for PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, STARLIGHT SPLASH and a beautiful seedling shared by Steve Williams, I no longer grow cultivars that did not originate in my garden. This was an effort to downsize (worked) and to force me to focus on producing patterned true spiders (didn’t work). Focus? Nope, I was still trying to pollinate everything and so made a great many more crosses than I could handle. Thus, most of these seed offerings involve at least one seedling. Forgive me.
Pod parent: TOTEM CHECK* (Michaels 2015 intro registered in 2014) M 33" hardy EV TET 8-8½" Purple with a creamy yellow appliquéd eye, 3-5 way branching (a terminal Y, sometimes W and 1-2 laterals) and 18-25 buds. While there's been a number of similar purple with appliquéd eye daylilies registered, I've chosen to introduce TOTEM CHECK (I'm a big fan of the film Inception) because it's a bluer purple than any of the others I've seen, plus it produces more blooms than either APPLIQUE or WIND MASTER do in my zone 6ish northern garden. A difficult but doable pod parent, it has great pollen and the blooms stand up very well to heat and humidity. Makes relatively narrow fans for a tet. Seedling WIWSTKLAD-36 [WAITING IN THE WINGS X (SWALLOW TAIL KITE x LAVENDER ARROWHEAD).
Pollen parent: VENUSIAN VEYRON* (Michaels 2014 introduction registered in 2013) M 32" DOR TET A consistently quilled deep pink 7½" bloom with an apricot to cream watermark over yellow to green throat was not something I was going to leave in the seedling patch.. While the petals recurve, the sepals reach upward in a gentle angle, adding dimension. Averaging one lateral and 18 buds, fertility both ways is excellent. Makes average sized fans. While Marvin the Martian drives a MARTIAN MASERATI and everyone on Pluto used to drive a PLUTONIAN PORSCHE, only the hottest chicks on Venus drive the VENUSIAN VEYRON. Seedling CHGLX-15. The top seller among my 2014 intros. {Curt Hanson seedling: {[ESCALATING DICTOMIES X (THAIS x PROTOCOL)] X GALAXY RANGER}.
