Except for PIGMENT OF IMAGINATION, STARLIGHT SPLASH and a beautiful seedling shared by Steve Williams, I no longer grow cultivars that did not originate in my garden. This was an effort to downsize (worked) and to force me to focus on producing patterned true spiders (didn’t work). Focus? Nope, I was still trying to pollinate everything and so made a great many more crosses than I could handle. Thus, most of these seed offerings involve at least one seedling. Forgive me.
Pod parent: LESWIZ-1 (unregistered) M 37” DOR 5½ This was a precocious seedling, first blooming in 2015 after being planted out in 2014 (most seedlings take 3 years to bloom here because I don’t get them in the ground until July) and it went straight to the selected bed. I was happy that the pale lemon cream flowers were not as round as mom, and even happier that they almost always displayed significant patterning in the eye with varying shades of blue violet and red violet the first year. Pattern was less common in the record heat of 2016, but the genetics are there, and every bloom had pattern in the cooler 2017 bloom season. In fact, I took photos of 21 separate blooms. Scapes present one lateral under a terminal W and average 29 buds. This may be a 2020 intro, especially after seeing several patterned kids from it. (LENNON SPEX X WIZARD DELUXE).
Pollen parent: TRCWLWHPGIG-18 (unregistered) 23-28” Mre DOR 7” purple with a deeper halo broken with lighter shading, lighter eye on the sepals as well, lighter edges and pale sepal tips that are usually hidden by recurve. A favorite for color and pattern since 2014, it took until it rebloomed in 2018 for it to produce scapes with a reasonable height and bud count bud count (one lateral, terminal Y and 18 buds) and it took until it rebloomed for it to set pods. Still being held for observation since its first scapes in 2018 were only 23” tall and 23” is way too short for the bloom size. {[TRAHLYTA x (CHIN WHISKERS x LITTLE WITCHING HOUR)] x PRETTY GRAPHIC] X INSTANT GRAFFITI}.
