Pod parent: IGf2 (unregistered) 40” Mre DOR 7” this pink and rose bitone with lighter edges seedling was chosen in 2015 as a bridge plant for its heavy substance and the fact that it was much skinnier than its parent, but every year thereafter, every bloom has manifested some of the wildest movement in the garden. The sepals twirl and twist while the petals often pinch and there have been days when the sepals curl around the petals in such a way that the bloom has to be opened manually. The color tends to fade considerably in cool weather, but color is its least important trait. I should see the first kids from it in 2019. Slow to increase, the 2 scapes in 2018 each had one low lateral branch and a terminal Y with 16 and 18 buds respectively. This is the only selfed cross I’ve ever moved to the selected bed. (INSTANT GRAFFITI X INSTANT GRAFFITI).
Pollen parent: TRCWLWHPGIG-18 (unregistered) 23-28” Mre DOR 7” purple with a deeper halo broken with lighter shading, lighter eye on the sepals as well, lighter edges and pale sepal tips that are usually hidden by recurve. A favorite for color and pattern since 2014, it took until it rebloomed in 2018 for it to produce scapes with a reasonable height and bud count bud count (one lateral, terminal Y and 18 buds) and it took until it rebloomed for it to set pods. Still being held for observation since its first scapes in 2018 were only 23” tall and 23” is way too short for the bloom size. {[TRAHLYTA x (CHIN WHISKERS x LITTLE WITCHING HOUR)] x PRETTY GRAPHIC] X INSTANT GRAFFITI}.
Goals: While I’ve used its pollen for the past 2 years, and I tried to pollinate it with numerous partners, this backcross to INSTANT GRAFFITI is the only cross that took. No idea what to expect from INSTANT GRAFFITI times 3 but will be interested in the results. I very rarely grow out crosses of fewer than 25 seeds because I despise having to make labels.
