AUCTION IS FOR 5 SEEDS FROM THE CROSS OF QUOTING HEMINGWAY X RUNNING TO YOU.
POD PARENT DESCRIPTION:
*QUOTING HEMINGWAY (Pierce G.) 3195-A (Bluegrass Shadows x Sdlg) SEV, EE, 40” tall, 7.5” flower, 7 way branching, 55-60 buds Multi Rebloom/Everbloomer.
Bluegrass Shadows has been a tremendous parent for me and I got use her again heavily this year. QUOTING HEMMINGWAY is thus far one of my best daylilies for breeding. The very wide ruffled white to yellow/white edge is absolutely amazing. There is a large bluish/silver watermark that is quite refreshing and this bluish color sparkles around the petals inside the big ruffles. The thick edge reminds me of sparkling clouds and the whole impression is of a holiday in Key West, hence the name – QUOTING HEMMINGWAY. This flower absolutely wows me and blooms nonstop. A strong and easy grower I hope you enjoy growing QUOTING HEMMINGWAY as much as I have. I will continue to use this daylily for years to come. Fertile both ways. Very Limited.
POLLEN PARENT DESCRIPTION:
Running To You
(Gossard, James) 2019 introduction
(The Ultimate Sacrifice) x (tetra Sharon's Delight)
Seedling number 208-15
Tetraploid 30" Mid Late season Semi-Evergreen emo fr 8" 3-4 way branching 18-22 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer. Very good rust resistance. USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5-10.
Running to You is one of the Best reds I have ever seen, and one of the most heavily substanced daylilies in my garden. The red does NOT fade or wilt in the heat, and the substance is almost wax-like ,it is so thick. Out of a tetrploid conversion of Richard Norris' Sharon's Delight, this daylily takes Red genetics to a whole new level. As I've said before, typically new conversions are difficult to use because not all the pollen might have converted, or the plant may over convert, or revert. By using plants that are one generation from the tetraploid conversion, a hybridizer reaps all the benefits of the conversion without the headache and heartbreak of one. Cross this with Precious Kiss or Heavenly Emerald Rose for some outstanding kids.
