A while back on the Facebook Daylily Hybridizer's Nook group run by my friend Bobbi Johnson, the question was asked whether hybridizers stick with their own lines or whether they import other genetics into their breeding. While I do cross some seedling on seedling of my own breeding, every year I visit other hybridizers gardens to see what they are working on, where they are headed, and buy from them when I see something outstanding that would do well in my program. I spend thousands of dollars every year on introductions from other hybridizers, not only in support of their craft, but also to benefit from the different genetics and lines by incorporating them into my own.
