Rare to offer cross , both plants are huge and hard to set pods
Humungousaur
(Gossard, James) 2013 introduction
(Megatron) x (Bali Watercolor)
Tetraploid 41" Early Midseason Dormant emo fr 12- 14" 3-4 way branching 18-22 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer. UFO cascade.
Flowers of Humungousaur are wine purple with a big green throat. Humungousaur is my absolute best introduction to date. I just love it. It has everything, no improvements needed. It is so good that I have taken it to all colors including orange. Even got seed from it with 'Heavenly United We Stand', my next favorite. I have held it back so people would see it at the AHS National Convention. But Daylilies were blooming 2 weeks early do to weather conditions. The last bloom occurred two days before convention. It figures. It did rebloom later in season. If you only buy one introduction from me, this is the one. Named from a Ben 10 cartoon. It was his biggest and baddest alien. Name fits perfectly! Should grow well in all zones. A super hybridizing and garden plant.........$100 Double Fans..
EMERALD TARANTULA
(Pierce G) 2012-CD (Rolling Raven x Tetra Rose F. Kennedy) EMre SEV/DOR emo 36” 11.5-12” flower span, UF Cascade, 5 way branching, 35 buds.
I should have taken a picture. I took EMERALD TARANTULA which is a giant Red self UF Cascade to the potted area and compared her to all the big previous spider type introductions and I was shocked at HOW MUCH BIGGER EMERALD TARANTULA was than all of them. It was like a horse matched up to a Giraffe. And keep in mind the Tetra Rose F. Kennedy prodigy has that heavy substance so it made the others look wispy; it was a shock considering I had always thought our past spiders were so big. Well no longer. Really you can’t see it in a photo but EMERALD TARANTULA is GIGANTIC, and is pod Fertile outside!!! Heavy wax like substance with lots of green. Twice the substance of a regular Tetraploid. My only extremely limited daylily this year. Fertile both ways. Should grow anywhere in the country.
All crosses have been made in my garden and are from the 2021 crop. Seeds are all from true to name registered daylilies. Seeds have been dried 2 days and kept in the refrigerator, ready to plant. I give bonus seeds of my choosing with each shipment.
