BIG EYED BUTTERFLY
STAMILE 2008
HYBRIDIZER'S PICTURE & DESCRIPTION:
BIG EYED BUTTERFLY(Stamile-P.) TET 5196-B (Which Way X Bit of Blue)28” EMRe. emo. Ev. 4.25” x 2.25” x 1.25”. 5-way branching (3 laterals plus terminal “y”) 35 buds.
BIG EYED BUTTERFLYis our best navy blue on cream based flower. Like many blue eyes the color is not a uniform navy blue self but appears first as an outer plum band shading into navy blue and then shading into gray and then charcoal. This is a wild color combination. Interestingly, it shows a little different combination of colors on the sepals where there is a distinct lavender band between the outer plum and inner navy blue.
BIG EYED BUTTERFLYis a rare color combination that is destined to be explored in the patterns as well as the blue eyes. Daylilies are wonderful for presenting so many possibilities andBIG EYED BUTTERFLYwill be great for opening new doors. Pollen fertile but a difficult pod parent.

ABOUT BITTERSWEET FARM: Our ten acres of woods, ravines, and garden beds is located outside of Granville, Ohio. In this part of Ohio (zone 6A), we grow in clay soil amended with lots of manure, peat, compost, etc. Temperatures can drop to -20, so the daylilies I sell must be hardy enough to survive our winters. Rust does not overwinter here, and I’ve never seen it in the garden. I start seeds from my own crosses each year in our small greenhouse, and everything else is grown outside -- all of our named cultivars, as well as our seedlings, are field grown, hardy, and beautiful.
Please let me know if you ever have a concern about plants you receive from me. I stand behind everything I sell. I hope that you get as much pleasure from these daylilies as I do.
Unless otherwise noted, all photos belong to Bittersweet Farm and were taken in our garden.
