Shipping begins most likely mid September. It is still too hot here and will go until October. I am trying to clear out all of my garden due to medical bills piling up so I will have lots of things at low prices. Whatever I list for fall is all I will have for fall so if you want them do not wait. Some things I will reinventory once shipping is done for spring listings. Some plants are already potted while others will be divided at time of shipping (will note in auction if it will be divided)
I'm offering a fan of this seedling obtained from Bob Faulkner's garden chiefly to another pollen dabber to pass along the genes for getting broken rings into his/her program of hybridizing patterned diploids. This was not among Bob's "selects" as the blooms are a bit wonky and need further crossing to produce an optimum flower shape. But the patterning has shown itself prominently on most of the blooms I saw this summer, and more importantly for a dabber, it is fertile both ways, and I've seeds from it in both momma and poppa functions. The parentage is unknown and presumed to be seedling X seedling.
The scapes average about 30" with a terminal W, and some bear a lateral branch as well. The bud count runs 20-25. In my beds, virtually nothing grows to published standards on account of the poor soil conditions I have. In fact, a seedling I am growing that showed only a terminal Y and a dozen buds in my beds is sporting 5-way branching and 20+ buds in a friend's garden. So I fully expect this Faulkner seedling would likewise show better branching and bud count when grown in more favorable conditions. The blooms are nicely above the foliage, and the fans are on the small side, typical of most diploids in my experience.
It's a good opportunity to increase the depth in your gene pool for diving more deeply into the mysterious waters of patterning. It's a real plus that the rings show so clearly on the sepals, not just on the petals. A judicious selection of partners for it could produce some outstanding offspring in future generations.
I paid $225 for this when I got it :)
