We use good old California sunshine, water, nutrients andTIME (maturity). We rely heavily onorganic productsfor insect and disease control---we also have LADYBUGS, GREEN LACEWINGS AND PRAYING MANTISon patrol for us. ARCANE MASTER (HPF-127-gr-1) is one of the greenest edges I've seen in this garden and the only green sharks tooth edge I've ever even heard about, except for Shirley Farmer's incredible “GREEN TEETH.” Jamie Gossard flipped over this in the seedling bed, and told me he had seen NOTHING greener anywhere, including HOLY GUACAMOLE. I myself grow all the “green edges” for comparison, including BELA NOTE, IRISH HALO, EMERALD DREAM and GRANNY SMITH. There are no true green edges so far, but ARCANE MASTER is a step in that direction. Plants are a study in perfection and about 32" tall with 4-way branching and 35 buds. Fragrant and reblooms. From top to bottom, ARCANE MASTER is a study in symmetry with near perfect balance of plant, scape and bloom. This 5" lavender glitters with diamond dusting from stem to stern., and the large vibrant green throat compliments the glistening chartreuse green sharks teeth-a truly exotic bloom. Foliage is huge and lush and semi-evergreen, with arching deep blue-green leaves and arrow-straight scapes with 4 perfectly placed lateral branches and over 35 buds. ARCANE MASTER outdoes both parents as to scapes, branching and overall plant habit. This perfectly spaced branching allows flowers to open at graduated heights and when 3 or 4 of these ornate blooms are open at once, this daylily can win "best-in-show" anywhere. For those seeking the elusive "green edge," ARCANE MASTER will prove an invaluable tool, and its new seedlings are incredible...some with teeth approaching light mint green-nearly devoid of yellow.
