We mix our own soil, including alfalfa, bone meal, blood meal and WORM CASTINGS. We feed primarily with Miracle Grow with minors and SEAWEED CONCENTRATE. We do not force our plants. We use good old California sunshine, water and nutrients. We rely heavily on organic products for insect and disease control---we have LADYBUGS, GREEN LACEWINGS AND PRAYING MANTIS on patrol for us.

Notice the reference to producing teeth below, but don't dismiss the fact that Grand Masterpiece has a double dose of Super Purple and is found in many of the best purples and "blacks"--including many from Benz and Moldovan. There are thirty seven introductions and it is really quite a list.

You are bidding on a blooming size single fan of an easy-to-use fully converted tetraploid version of Bob Dove's beautiful SUPER PURPLE. This was the finest purple in the world when it was introduced, and when all aspects of flower and plant are taken into account, it may be unsurpassed even today. Plants are big, robust and blue-green DORMANT. Scapes are 30" tall with 3-4 lateral branches and a bud count as high as 40 when well grown. An incredible parent, producing SOLOMON'S ROBES for Dave Talbott, BIG APPLE for Van Sellers, REGAL FINALE for Stamile and GRAND MASTERPIECE for Dove. The tetraploid conversion of SUPER PURPLE is very scarce and almost impossible to obtain. Bill Munson, Steve Moldovan, Oscie Whatley, Trudy Petree and myself all failed at our conversion attempts as did Pat Stamile on his first attempts. Pat and myself obtained very difficult to use chimeras (partial conversions), but finally Patrick succeeded and I managed to swap him out of his first increase. 2 years later, he lost his fan and I replaced it. As far as I know, there are no FULL tet conversions of this plant in commerce, and as a parent its worth is virtually unexplored. Pat based his purple line on this conversion, including KILLER, and moved on. I crossed Tet. SUPER PURPLE with the pollen from ANGEL'S SMILE and from just 2 seeds, I got 2 introductions, MIDNIGHT DAZZLE and ROYAL GYPSY. Ted Blaney used borrowed pollen onto Munson's COURT MAGICIAN and produced his SUPER MAGICIAN, a Tet. SUPER PURPLE look-alike with 65 buds and 7 laterals here in my garden. ****NOTE—Tet. SUPER PURPLE throws braided and sharks teeth on its offspring. Tet. GRAND MASTERPIECE, Tet. BIG APPLE Tet. REGAL FINALE etc DO NOT. ****Powerful pollen; difficult pod-parent.
