This glowing 5 1/2" candy apple red is the most saturated and intense in a series of green throated reds resulting from crossing my closely related lines together. The garden name on this beauty was simply “INTENSE.” The reds from Tetra CHRISTMAS IS possess the most saturated deep red color I have ever seen, and all are hard dormant. The reds from my induced seedling W-29 are much larger, with flatter form. Tet. W-29 is an extremely wide, 7" clear red from (When I Dream X Whatley's “J-29,” and is much like a bigger wider petaled BIG APPLE. The converted parents are both from Yancey breeding and related through CHERRY FESTIVAL. The foundation of both these lines on the pod side is my ED MARSHALL and its offspring. imagine DRAGONs is the end result of 30 years of breeding for a deep ruby red with round form and an enormous all day green throat. I once wrote that “EYE OF THE DRAGON is the pinnacle of perfection in this color,” but now... it has been surpassed. The intensity and depth of color seen here-as well as the ultra flat form goes beyond every red daylily in commerce. Ultra flat and open by dawn despite substance like heavy plastic and its green throat holds. 3-4 way branching displays 22-25 of these ruby red blooms to perfection. Fertile both ways.....SOLD OUT
