Rebecca's Smile
(Henry, M. 2014)
This is my first introduction. She's my baby and named after my Baby, my wife. My wife has a smile that lights up every room she enters, and that's why I choose to name this flower after my wife Rebecca. It's a bright and cheerful flower, larger that life. It's about a six inch blossom, with about 18 buds per scape. It reblooms here in South Georgia, all the way through till October or December. It's a cross between Fashion Police and Irresistible Charm. It went from a single fan seedling in one gallon pot to seven healthy fans in one year. This one is not only a pretty face, but a excellent clumper. And being a regular Joe Smoe, I don't know the fancy tricks of the trade, another my beds are well cared for and fertilized, but not different than a regular gardener. But Rebecca's Smile went from one fan to about 40 clumps (around 20 fans per clump in three years! She was a 2011 seedling) Her petal self is a sunny yellow, and she has a large eye that varies from tangerine orange to orange red. Her edge is at least as big as her parent Fashion Police, but usually bigger, especially once it starts to clump and establish). Her eye and edge contrast beautifully to the Sunny yellow petal self. It even has a double outer edge of wire gold. And Rebecca's Smile is pod fertile. I've already gotten some beautifully stunning seedlings from many crosses made with her. It makes medium size fans because it sends all it's energy to multiplying and blooming. This is great landscape daylily as well due to it's quick clumping and long bloom season. And yellow and orange are in my opinion the most eyecatching colors in flowers. Out of all my plants in my yard, the most attention any of them ever recieved was a huge swathe of bright yellow snapdragons. Yellow is just such an attention grabber. And I think orange is a close second.
---Please read all my personal rules and ramblings before bidding.
----We will start shipping the third week of April through the last week of May. I apologize that I cannot make exceptions to ship earlier than Mid-April.
--- All items won between January 2017 through March 2017 will qualify for combined shipping. If you have a certain time frame that you would like your lily delivered, between the 3rd week of April through the last week of May, please include that shipping time frame with your payment. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred shipping dates.
---I know fan size is an important quality when purchasing daylilies. Sometimes the daylily growers in the South, receive a reputation for sending “tree trunk” size fans. But all our different daylilies grow very differently. Some varieties do become very large, especially as the season wears on, but others make smaller fans. We don’t own a greenhouse, so when we get winter weather in the teens or twenties, it usually knocks all our lilies back pretty good. You can see from our feedback that we have happy customers, and we like to keep it that way.
---We will ship to all 50 states, however, please note that for California, Washington, New Mexico, Oregon, Alaska and Arizona the shipping and handling will be $20.00 with a $3.00 S&H for each additional item won.
---Please include your username with all your payments and correspondence. So we’ll know who you are ;)
---Georgia Residents please add 7% sales tax to your winning bid (shipping isn’t sales taxed)
---Please allow at least one week for us to respond to any messages or correspondence. Daylilies are just a small portion of our week and we usually only list new lilies and respond to messages once a week. As you know, life can get busy with jobs and family, so we devote only one day a week to listing lilies and answering messages. Thanks for your understanding!
---Once you purchase your first lily from us (this season) we write your shipping address down. If you change your address before the shipping period, please drop us a message on the Lily Auction, to let us know your new address. Once we receive your new address we’ll write it down and send you a confirmation message on the message board. If you don’t receive the confirmation message, we did not receive your notice of address change. And we can’t be responsible for shipping to a different address other than the address that was listed the first time you won an auction from us this season unless you let us know.
----We guarantee your happiness. If you are unsatisfied for any reason, please feel free to return the package, the next day after receiving it. We just ask that you send it back the following day, so that the daylilies can be returned before they croak. They are daylilies so we don’t them pushing up daising ;). (If you’ll soak the lilies in water up to their crown over night, so that when they are returned they will have rehydrated to some degree, we’d really appreciate that). Once we receive the lilies, you’ll receive a full refund.
---Payments are due within 2 weeks after the auction close. For those of you who wish to keep bidding on our auctions and would rather write as few checks as possible, please send me an email and let me know that you are still wishing to bid on other items and that you would like to send one payment. However, payments are still due within one month (30 days) after the close of your last unpaid auction. Sellers only have a limited time to report non-payment to the Lily Auction and have their fees refunded.
---We are very glad that you chose to look at our auction items and wish you a warm thank you! We are blessed and honored to get to know so many wonderful people over the years.
