SPIDERS SPIDERS and more SPIDERS
This auction is for 12 unbloomed seedlings which were planted out in June of last summer and if left in my Michigan flower bed
would bloom about 50% this coming summer. They were pencil thickness this fall and I can not wait to see their dancing blooms.
I have been hybridizing for 28 years and have been working with diploid spiders and ufo'sfor11 years. I am striving for spider or
spider like flowers which have a nice height, waist high or better, good branching where flowers are not crowded , lots of blooms
creating a long bloom season ,love to see rebloom-almost never in Michigan and have a healthy green plant .
I rarely use non-spiders in my crosses except to get rebloomor patterns in the spider plants. I have no problem crossing 2 first
year seedlings but also use alot of named cultivars from Jim Murphy, Linda Michels, James Gossard, and Dan Bachman. My
favorite daylily cultivaris Murphy's ' Thank You Dad ' and my best grandparent is ' Heavenly Spider Monkey' created by Gossard.
This picture was from the Region 2 Summer meeting . It is a one day snapshot of some of my flowers. These were the flowers
which looked good after 6 hours in a water tube and a 3 hour drive.
There will be a nice bonus and plants can be shipped anytime this spring
