I promised myself more swimming and canoeing time rather than spending time making seeds for sale this past summer, and I stuck to it. But, of course, I made way too many seeds for myself and now they’re in need of a good home.
Pod parent: ADDERBOLT (Michaels 2011 intro registered in 2010) M 34" SEV EMO 7½" every bloom of this antique rose diploid Spider with a deeper eye and chartreuse throat has been pinched and quilled, with a ratio averaging 5.697:1 as standing. Just to be on the safe side, however, I measured the petals smashed down onto a table, and the official 4.5:1 ratio is the average when flattened. With 2 lateral branches and 24-29 buds. Super easy to set pods on (a trait inherited from mom) and with good pollen, its kids have significantly infiltrated the selected seedling bed and a dark one, now registered as RENFIELD, will be introduced in 2016. Makes narrow fans. The name is Middle English for dragonfly. Passes skinniness and extreme quilling to many of its kids and is my favorite spider breeder by far, especially as a parent in some patterned spiders. Reblooms most years in western NY. (FLUID DYNAMICS X SCREAMING EELS).
Pollen parent: MLSBSO-18 (unregistered) M 37” DOR 7” (10¼” wingspan) near spatulate 4:1 purple Spider that displays 1or more missing color chevrons over a yellow green throat on all but the very hottest days. Easily pod fertile with very good pollen, it, unlike its mom and many of its mom’s offspring, opens early in the morning. Also unlike its mom, it has strong upright scapes. They display a lateral branch and 18 buds. Almost every kid I’ve seen from it so far has been patterned. A probable 2017 introduction. (MILITARY SCHOOL X BANSHEE SONATA).
Goals: Patterns! I selected an ADDERBOLT X BANSHEE SONATA seedling this year that had a missing color pattern so expect even more from this cross.
The seeds have been air dried for 1-3 days before being refrigerated. Please store them in your fridge until ready to plant.
