Thundercat
(Gossard, James) 2008 introduction
(Raspberry Butterflies x Raspberry Griffin) x ( Born Too Late x Crocodile Smile)
Tetraploid, 34" height, Mlate , Dormant, Early Morning Opener, Fragrant, Rebloomer, 7 ½" bloom, 5-6 way branching, 36 buds. Fertile both ways.
Excellent rust resistance. Northern Hardy.
Thundercat is a light pink flower with a striking red eye and edge. The edge has small red teeth on the petals. Named by my daughter Michelle, who upon seeing it said "Thundercat! Remember the cartoon show the THUNDERCATS we used to watch together? Looks like one of the Thundercats". Thus the name. It has been an important parent for hybridizing highly contrasted spiders with edges and teeth. The Born Too Late x Crocodile Smile seedling was a Matthew Kaskel seedling, a fleshy pink double edged flower with huge white teeth. Thundercat is an unusual formed crispate. Tops in its class.
Neon Flamingo
(Gossard, James) 2007 introduction
(Wayne Felgar x Webster's Pink Wonder)
Tetraploid, 35” Height, Mid-season, Dormant, Early morning opener, 8 ½ “ bloom, 3-way branching, 18 buds
Extra Large Bloom
Truly one of my best daylilies for color, a color break in pink hybridizing. The huge neon pink flowers are 8 ½” with a light pink watermark and green throat. My most used parent for hybridizing clear pinks, neon pinks, roses and rose reds of the spider and UFO types. Brightest pink I have seen to date. Super show & garden plant. Very fertile pollen, difficult pods.
Neon Flamingo won the AHS 2012 Extra Large Diameter Award
