Pod parent: MOBIUS STRIPPER (Michaels 2013 introduction registered in 2012) ML 46" DOR This 6½" (11¼" wingspan) daylily wasn't difficult at all to name since she can curl back onto herself during hot weather. Warm pink with a deeper halo over a yellow to green throat, the plant displays strong scapes with a terminal W, 2 lateral branches and up to 37 buds. Pod and pollen fertility is far superior to its dad's. At 3.4:1, it's not a spider but is a curled Cascade Unusual Form making skinny fans. Seedling WSPHMT-3 (WILSON SPIDER X HEAVENLY MR. TWISTER).
Pollen parent: THIRD ACT (Michaels 2012 intro registered in 2011) 40" M DOR EMO THIRD ACT isn't the largest spider in the checklists, but at 10" with a 14" wingspan, it's still a giant. Light apricot with yellow midribs and a maroon eye above a yellow to green throat, its Spider ratio averages 4.66:1. There's 1-2 laterals and 19 buds on the strong scapes of this rapid increaser. Curling and twisting intensify as the day wears on. While many rebloom scapes in 2012 leaned here, THIRD ACT's stood up tall and straight and the impressively large blooms seemed gigantic. The 2013 and 2014 and especially 2017 rebloom scapes seemed to hold even bigger blooms with all the rain and I continue to be amazed that they didn’t lean at all. As expected from the parentage, it makes narrow fans and is a difficult pod parent but has mighty strong pollen. Passes its strong scapes to its kids, and most of their blooms are quite curly as well. Some of it’s kids have been massive, up to 16” across, and the scapes were sturdy enough to hold them upright. A diploid that makes skinny fans. [(DIVERTISSMENT x TENNESSEE FLYCATCHER) X (MAD MAX x TENNESSEE FLYCATCHER)].
Goals: Gigantic and wiggly.
