POD PARENT:
Four Beasts in One
(DeCaire, 2009)
Four Beasts in One has held my interest over time. It does funny things like going all metallic or suddenly donning two silly striped eyebrows. Four Beasts in One is named after a story by Poe about a ruthless emperor whose dominion was besieged by four beasts. It has a multi-banded pattern that can break into four or more cycles. This is my most important pattern breeder and it
kids are typically healthy and strong northern seedlings. It is a cool morning opener.
As a plant Four Beasts in One is a dream of perfection with clean, deep green arching foliage and fat fans that emerge from dormancy beautifully. This summer it had5 well-spaced branches and 42 buds after top-dressing with mushroom compost in spring. but typically about 25 buds per scape 2010 intro.

Flowers are purple with multiply patterned bands A very intense green throat with a blue- purple eye zone. It radiates into multiple colors of brown, blue, purple and white, carried on both the petals and sepals.
This dark, romantic beauty just makes you think of long walks in the woods, her dark purple petals and sepals the shadows, the green and brown of her throat the leaves, and the white pattern she exudes the light filtering through the trees. She will mesmerize you with her luscious saturated color and beautiful form. A hardy evergreen, she will open Early to midseason and continue to put on a show through her rebloom. Though her name suggests the end of the day, she opens early morning and stays fresh until twilight. Cross her with my 2013 Rainbow butterfly for some gorgeous dormant purple patterned kids, or take her to my 2015 Dark Magician Girl to bring the twilight even darker to Night.
