AUCTION IS FOR 5 SEEDS FROM THE CROSS OF GREAT BLUE HERON X EDGE OF ADVENTURE.
POD PARENT HYBRIDIZER'S DESCRIPTION:
GREAT BLUE HERON (Dan Trimmer) Tetraploid (Blue Grass Music X Jamaican Rainbows) 34" EM Re. Ev. I consider this tall, well branched cultivar to very important as JAMAICAN RAINBOWS has added flower fullness, scape height, and size to a field where our blue eyed cultivars tend to be a bit smaller. The clean lavender based bloom resembles my favorite blue eyed parent, BLUE GRASS MUSIC, except GREAT BLUE HERON has a very large double edge in addition to the increased scape height and bloom size. Moderately pod fertile I used this cultivar both ways as a parent the past two years. GREAT BLUE HERON is an important parent and named to honor a very good friend and birder, Luddy Lambertson.
POLLEN PARENT HYBRIDIZER'S DESCRIPTION:
*EDGE OF ADVENTURE (Pierce G.) 2150-D (Born to Be Wild x (Jailhouse Rock x Rollercoaster Rush)) TET, SEV, EMre, 40” high, 5.75” flower, 7 way branching, 50-60 buds. EXT, Extra Pod Fertile, Rich Color.
I’ve said it before “what a great parent Born to Be Wild has been for me. EDGE OF ADVENTURE continues to make her contributions to the “Keepers Pool” due mainly to her perfect plant habits and loving fertility. She is basically a better Born to be Wild. Better scape, much more saturated in color, in fact the garden nickname is Colorful. She looks just like the photo, is fabulous from frills to narrow arching foliage. In addition, EDGE OF ADVENTURE is the most ever blooming daylily that I grow. Even now at the beginning of October all the clumps have scapes that I keep breaking off. This is after two sets of rebloom scapes, podded to the tilt, then maybe 2-4 sets since. We are breeding racehorses nowadays, all of us. Such a long road from Fulva. She has never lost a plant and to me is perfect in every way. Super extra pod fertility and superb plant habit. Priced for Everyone.
