Flowers are lavender rose with a broken, multicolored, patterned eye zone, triple edge with teeth and green throat. Seedling Tetra Tk1, sib to Canary Bird Song was a soft canary yellow with a blended pattern eye zone and a bi-colored picotee edge.
Larry Grace and Mike Holmes were at Pleasant Valley Daylily Farms in Dayton Oh and noticed several diploids, TK1 and TK2, that were intriguing. During discussion with Tom Polston, he said they were Carpenter seedlings purchased by Bob Faulkner from Jack Carpenter. Bob had bought a dozen or so Carpenter seedlings and three survived proving to be northern hardy. These two daylilies at Tom's were two of the three daylilies that survived in Bob’s Garden. Subsequently, Bob had then given the diploids to Tom for his diploid program. These seedlings were the backbone of his diploid program. After more discussion, Mike purchased the daylilies from Tom. Since his interest was in patterned Tets., Mike later sent the daylilies to Larry Grace to convert to tetraploid. After numerous yearly attempts to convert by Larry Grace, TK1 was converted. What was outstanding was the tetraploid conversion showed teeth. A photo below shows tetra TK1 with teeth. We have used it heavily in our program to get toothy, northern hardy pattern seedlings. We will have many future and current introductions from tetra TK1.
Spacecoast Rave Reflections when crossed to other patterned toothy daylilies takes the offspring to the next level. Nowhere else can you get these genetics. It is a very good garden cultivar for the late season. Excellent plant habit, branching and bud count makes for a grand garden plant as well as hybridizing parent
