SCARLET SHURIKEN (Benz) tet 26" M. Dor (White Fang x Ruby Corona) X (White Fang x Spartan Warrior) This breathtaking true red bristling with huge triangular shark's teeth sets a new standard in this class. SCARLET SHURIKEN is the clearest brightest red with biggest and most spectacular teeth introduced into commerce thus far. SCARLET SHURIKEN came from a cross of 2 WHITE FANG seedlings and the overall quality of these seedlings was astounding. To say they surpassed both parents is an understatement. Eight were selected in shades from watermelon rose to velvety bing cherry black-red…all sporting magnificent white, gold and even green teeth.
SCARLET SHURIKEN was my first pick and along with sib RUBY SHURIKEN remains my favorite and the most used of these edged reds. 5 inches in size, bright red in color, SCARLET SHURIKEN sports a clean green throat and big 1/2"-3/4" triangular teeth. Very vigorous with large deep blue green arching foliage and straight well branched scapes with 22-25 buds. Heavy, flat and always spectacular. One of my most heavily used daylilies for the last two years.
Wolfman (Gossard, James’14) ((White Fang) x (Shinto Etching x Heavenly Beginnings)) x (Lost world) 7.5” x 24" Mid-late season Dormant emo fr 4 way branching 16-18 buds. Fertile both ways. Rebloomer Flowers of Wolfman are burgundy red with a lighter eye and a green throat. The petals have a gold to white edge which is covered with teeth. The single most photographed flower of the 2013 national convention. The three flower photo was as it appeared the day of the national in our garden. This is my best toothy breeder, it just stamps our introductions. The pollen is super powerful, setting on daylilies that I have never got pods on A super hybridizing and garden plant. Brings the huge southern edges into a northern dormant line. Take a look at Pollen and pod parents pedigree. Angel's Smile, Kaskel Best Edge, Startle, White Fang, tetra Spindazzle, just to name a few. Wow!
