I hold both a Nursery Dealer License and a Nursery Grower's Certification. My gardens are inspected by the state of Indiana (Zone 5a), where winter temperatures can fall to 15-20 below. Rust will not survive here. I also do not invite new cultivars into my garden in the spring, and I am selective about what I bring in. The health of my Daylilies is a priority.
I practice organic gardening. Simply put, I do not use synthetic chemicals, of any kind, on my plants. I believe in working with the soil and organisms that keep it healthy. I fertilize with Milagornite and also use mushroom compost, peat and an occasional sticky trap for unwanted visitors. I find that a good, healthy, organic home garden compost works wonders. My plants are vigorous. The butterflies and bees are plentiful here.
At present, I am clearing established clumps of Daylilies that I have grown for over 20 years. You will find some lovely old standards, at reasonable prices in these beginning STOREPOSTS. I will gladly include extra fans, when available, and dig and ship the same day, when possible. I have been selling for many years, (nothing new to me), but this is my first try at The Auction, so please contact me with ANY questions that you may might have. I want you to be as happy with these Daylilies as I have been through the years.
All photographs are taken by me, in my Daylily fields.
'Mahogany Whispers (Brooks, 1993)
Scape-26 in. Flower size-5 in. Bloom period-Early to Mid season w/rebloom,Tetraploid, Semi-Evergreen, Diurnal
I call this the CHAMELEON of the garden. Brown-red blend with yellow throat, Mahogany Whispers puts on a different face to suit the weather. Sometime a deep mahogany, other times, lighter with a rich brown halo, this Lily always has one guessing. (No color correction here) I absolutely LOVE this one. Great Performer and so very interesting!
