Antigua Isle (Petit, 2013)
height 28in (71cm), bloom 6in (15.0cm), season M, Rebloom, Semi-Evergreen, Tetraploid, 20 buds. Lavender purple with a green throat and violet pattern eye that continues around the petal edges as a wide picotee which is surrounded by a gold edge. (Precious Candy × Blue Eden). Single fan at this low price. Not offered often.
Makes big fans in our garden. Incredible RUFFLES and consistent form and bud count on strong scapes, wind does not bother it! Very fertile.
As per hybridizer: "Good rust resistance. Fertile both ways. The flowers of Antigua Isle are a medium lavender purple with a large pattern eye surrounding a green throat. The violet eye is surrounded by a burgundy band. The eye continues around the petal edges as a very, very wide picotee. The picotee and eye are so large that they often leave only a dollop of petal color. The petal edges are extremely ruffled, and are covered in looping gold. Antigua Isle has been one of my most used parents in the blue lines. One of my goals is to take the true blue color in some of our seedlings and push the blue eye and edge to take up the entire surface of the flower, creating a blue flower. I have also used Antigua Isle heavily in my pattern lines in an effort to make the pattern cover most of the petal surface, producing bands of color within both the eye and a wide surrounding rainbow edge. Antigua Isle is not only a beautiful flower in its own right, but such an important parent for the future of the blue and pattern daylily!! "
Our plants are kept in pots outside in the weather! This is the south, we spray for rust. Photo images are usually the hybridizers’ images unless stated. See “About Me Page” for additional details.
