Helen Virginia Wheeler
(Men in Black) x [(Count Dracula x Darkness Reigns) x (Damn the Torpedoes)] Sev. 6-7″ fl. 34″ sc. M 20 buds. Fertile both ways, cold hardy and excellent rust resistance. Helen Virginia Wheeler, named for a daylily lover in Mississippi, is an enormous leap in our near-black breeding program. The black red to purple flowers are large and tall, with very wide petals outlined in a very wide white sharks tooth edge, which gets huge as the weather warms. The flowers also have a green throat that is surrounded by a subtle lighter watermark. A real breakthrough, and a an unbelievable parent… all of our best edged flowers from the last two years have come from this flower. The number of plants is extremely limited, so it will be available only with the 2014 Complete Collection, i.e. it is not available for purchase outside the Complete Collection.
