SULTRY GIRLS (Davisson) 2013 4 Fan Clump
The shades of smoky purple and black are outstanding on this plant and grows very well in my Delaware , zone 7b garden.
These voluptuous 8" cascading blooms are an unusual shade of "smoky" near black purple with a lighter purple watermark and a wide cream yellow to chartreuse throat. Lots of "blue" tones and a velvet finish on cool mornings. Waxy, rainproof substance. Petals roll up tightly in clock spring fashion and sepals twist with increasing heat and humidity. A partial cream yellow midrib punctuates the watermark. Scapes are 38" with 3 to 6 way branching, 24 buds. Flawless, semi-evergreen foliage. Increases quickly forming a showy clump. Starts blooming early season and blooms out slowly for a long bloom season. Easily fertile both ways. Tetraploid from CAROLINA COOL DOWN X SILVER SWORD. AHS Honorable Mention award winner.
Plants are grown in my 7B zone Delaware garden within a couple miles of the Lewes and Rehoboth beaches. My soil is a nice blend of sand, clay and organic matter. I try to offer at least DF or TF however I do specify in the description the size fan to expect.
